What this item is

Micaceous clay dug under permit in northern New Mexico, which is what lets this pot sit on a flame. It ships with the first-seasoning instructions, because a pot that cracks on its first use was almost always heated too fast.

    The seasoning instructions saved it

I would have heated it too fast and cracked it. The card in the box walks you through the first firing and the pot has been on my burner weekly since.

Glad it helped. Almost every pot that fails, fails on day one.
